SENATE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION NO. 12

Requesting the Joint Committee on Government and Finance to make
a study of bringing chapter seventeen-c of the code of West
Virginia into conformance with the uniform vehicle code.
Whereas, The last major revision to chapter seventeen-c of
the code of West Virginia was in 1951; and
Whereas, Since that time, a number of new geometric design
features and traffic control devices have been implemented by
highway and traffic engineers; and
Whereas, It would be desirable to update and revise chapter
seventeen-c of the code of West Virginia so that it provides
better guidance to law-enforcement personnel and provides
uniformity in enforcement of traffic regulations from
jurisdiction to jurisdiction; therefore, be it
Resolved by the Legislature of West Virginia:
That the Joint Committee on Government and Finance is hereby
requested to review, examine and study bringing chapter
seventeen-c of the code of West Virginia into conformance with
the uniform vehicle code and to make recommendations; and, be it
Further Resolved, That the Joint Committee on Government and
Finance report to the regular session of the Legislature, 2000,
on its findings, conclusions and recommendations, together with
drafts of any legislation necessary to effectuate its
recommendations; and, be it
Further Resolved, That the expenses necessary to conduct
this study, to prepare a report and to draft necessary
legislation be paid from legislative appropriations to the Joint
Committee on Government and Finance.
